In the wake of Bandcamp’s acquisition by Epic Games, I decided to look at which other music publishing platforms are out there. Not that I think that the acquisition will necessarily be bad for Bandcamp. It might be of course, it wouldn’t be the first one. But it’s a bit early to tell. Still, I like to have options and relying on just one music publishing platform always felt a bit limiting.
On my exploration, and mostly thanks to a discussion on the forum lines, I found out about the streaming platform Resonate.

I have to say that I’m not a big fan of streaming. Political and Cultural aspecs aside, I just don’t care about it that much. There’s really not much that these platforms offer that interests me.
Nonetheless, I decided to give Resonate a go. It’s very new, and created by a small team. So there’s rough edges, but there’s a few things I quite like about it. They are experimenting with a “stream to own” option, which basically means that once you have streamed a track N times it’s yours. Sounds like a good combination of streaming and old-school buying. They also act as a co-op, though I haven’t looked into that enough yet.
Anyway, to test the waters, I’ve decided to upload one of my albums, let’s see how this goes!
